Brainspotting Practitioner · Phase 3
Brainspotting is a gentle, brain–body approach that uses where you look to help you process difficult emotions, memories and body sensations. I’m trained to Phase 3, and I offer Brainspotting online and as part of in-person Healing Days in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Many people come to it after trying talking therapies, or when going over what happened again and again doesn’t feel right for them.

Brainspotting (BSP) is a brain–body approach developed by Dr David Grand in 2003. It uses your field of vision to help you notice and process difficult emotions, memories and body sensations.
A “brainspot” is a specific eye position that connects with the issue you’re working on. It’s found by noticing subtle reflexes, known as oculomotor reflexes, such as blinks or small eye movements, alongside where you feel the strongest response in your body.
1
We talk about what you’d like to work on.
2
We notice how it feels in your body.
3
I help you find an eye position connected to that feeling, sometimes using a pointer to guide your gaze.
4
You gently hold your focus there, with me attuned alongside you.
Many people find they can work through experiences that have felt stuck. You don’t always need to talk through past events in detail, and we go at a pace that feels manageable for you.
People have Brainspotting for support with things like:
Processing past traumatic experiencesPublic speaking and performance nervesStress and anxietyGriefLow self-esteem
Yes. Brainspotting works online by video call, so you can have sessions from home, wherever you are in the UK or the world. It’s also part of the in-person Healing Days I offer in Shrewsbury.
Both approaches work with the eyes, but in different ways. EMDR uses repeated side-to-side eye movements or other back-and-forth stimulation, while Brainspotting holds your gaze at one chosen position.
After a difficult experience with EMDR, one of my clients told me Brainspotting felt gentler and more manageable, and that “I never felt pressured or rushed.”
“I wasn’t sure what to expect with Brainspotting Therapy but I’m shocked how much relief I have had.”
